Car: 1969 Beaumont Convertible
![]() |
In my younger years I had always wanted to own and drive a Beaumont; it didn't matter to me if it was a '68 or '69 hardtop, but it just had to be a Beaumont! One day when looking through our local newspaper I was very surprised to see a Beaumont adveritsed for sale. It wasn't my much wanted hardtop, however, it was a Beaumont convertible. I made a phone call and quickly headed over to take a look at the '69. It wasn't long before a deal was made and arrangements were made to tow the Beaumont to her new home! It was in rough shape, however, I could see the potential as I am sure all Beaumont "lovers" do.
The convertible had been in an accident and was missing the driver's side fender, and other parts of the body were in definite need of some new metal. I found two new GM fenders for a Chevelle, changed the doors and with the help of a friend installed some after market quarter panels. The Beaumont was beginning to take shape!
The powerplant was an original stock 350 with a two barrel. I had plans for this Beaumont and keeping it stock under the hood was not one of them. The original engine was pulled and safely stored away and replaced with another 350 complete with aluminum Comp Cam heads, 4barrel, headers and flow master exhaust. The tranny received a 2800 stall shift kit and the back end got a 3.73 posi. I found a set of 14" Cragars in great shape at a garage sale on put them on the Beaumont.
The interior, except for the door panels is original. A shiny silver paint job was applied and the Beaumont was ready to cruise. My wife and I enjoy cruising and in 2003 we are hoping to travel to car shows in other provinces and to meet up with other Beaumont and Chevelle owners in our club.
