Car: 1972 Heavy Chevy
Even as a child, I had a deep seated love for cars. I always had it in the back of my mind that I was going to get myself a “special car” - something different than everyone else had. Finally, that day arrived in September 1972. I stumbled across this baby during an innocent cruise past Calvert Motors, a GM dealer in Iroquois Falls (a small town, about 45 minutes from Timmins) I was driving my 1964 Chevy Impala two door hardtop at the time.
I virtually stopped right there on the street and “gawked” at that car.- then pulled into the lot. I knew instantly, that was the one I wanted. Next, was the test drive, then I was totally hooked. She had only 11 miles on the odometer. Fifteen minutes later a deal was made and my 64 Impala stayed behind as a trade in. Here it is 1996 and we are still inseparable! Loving this sporty machine as I do, I’ve left it alone.- she remains in her original state - even down to the brake shoes and shock absorbers!

This 1972 Heavy Chevy sports coupe contains a 350 Cu. In V8 with a four barrel carb and a four speed standard stick on the floor. Heavy Chevy equipment consists of a special understated black grille a domed SS hood with factory chrome lock pins, special side striping/Heavy Chevy decal kit, rallye wheels with chrome centre caps and lug nuts. Even with the popularity of floor carpeting back then, this model came with stock, black rubber matting. (Much easier to keep clean!)
I have everything that belongs to this car - original showroom literature, owners manual, dealers bulletin (on the Heavy Chevy) and complete history, which includes original bill of sale and option list. I even have a monogram “Heavy Chevy” lawn chair that comes in handy at car shows, displays or at intermission during Sunday cruises.
To date, the odometer reads 40,112 original miles. I can hardly wait (as always) for spring to arrive again, so I can get back behind the wheel! I guess my “vehicular adrenaline” is flowing already
