Car: '66 Chevelle Malibu SS

I was very impressed with my first read of the Nov/Dec 2002 edition of the Canadian Classic Chevelles & Beaumonts. I look forward to many more and will be sending my 2003 renewal in soon.
I had been looking for many years for a convertible either a' 66 or '67 and I had pretty well given up hope of every finding one without giving up my first born. I had started and was actually very close to picking up a '67 Chevelle hard top when I stumbled upon this one while surfing the net one day. I made contact with the owner and planned on a weekend trip to view the car. The car didn't run the best and it was running extremely hot but knew it had promise and made an offer and the rest is as they say is history. Anyway I trailered the car for 4 hours to get it home and couldn't wait to get started on making it right.
I had the car appraised for insurance purposes and completed a few minor mechanical problems to get it road-worthy and started driving it around town. I also sent away to GM Canada to document its birth in life and was extremely surprised when the info arrived, the car turned out to be a matching numbers (original 327 4bbl V8) car and a Canadian SS version as well.
I now have the car running great and a new three-core rad and thermostat fixed the overheating problem. I intend on collecting what I need to do a frame up restoration in a few years. My intent is to try to get it as close to original as possible (and as you see I don't need too much). In the mean time, I intend on enjoying the ride of driving a fun car and as far as I'm concerned, a nice piece of Canadian automotive history. Bob and Maureen
