Car: 1971 Chevelle SS Clone

I have owned this car since 1986. It was a Malibu with a bench seat and column shift. The drive train was a 307 cu. in. 350 turbo with a 10 bolt rear end. I drove it until 1994, then parked it for almost 10 years. In the spring of 2003 I started to look for parts to rebuild it. I went to the Barrie flea market and found one front fender, floor pans, trunk pans, a grille and some trim parts. After that I was talking to people from Antique Chevrolet in Oakville, Ontario.
I ordered the other front fender, quarter panels, inner fenders and filler panels, rocker panels, fuel tank, floor and trunk braces. In September I went back to Barrie and found a trunk lid and rad support. After about six trips to NPD in Livonia, Mich., I had a lot of new parts. The car was put in the shop for a frame off restoration in March of 2004.
The frame was patched in three spots, sand blasted and then painted black. A completely different drive train was installed. I used a 1975 4 bolt main 350 bored 30 over, 9.5 to 1 flat top pistons, camel back cast iron heads, a crane 484 lift cam shaft with good hydraulic lifters, push rods, roller rockers 1.6, Holley 670 CFM Avenger Carb on Edelbrock Performer intake, Edelbrock Aluminum valve covers and breather, cowl induction hood and small tube ceramic coated headers. 2 ½” Flowmaster exhaust, 700 R4 trans and 12 bolt Chev. Rear end with 3.73 Strange gears were installed.
I went to NOS and ordered an all new interior, new windshield, all other windows tinted, and a Pioneer Stereo was installed. I painted the body Sunburst Orange II Pearl, with wide white SS Strips. The SS dash is to be installed at a later date.
