John Palmer's '66 Malibu SS

I purchased my Malibu SS in 1997 from a recently retired gentleman in Calgary AB. He was wanting to change his mode of transportation so he was selling his Chevelle so that he and his wife could go touring on a Honda Goldwing. The Chevelle had to be sold so that the Honda could be purchased. He also had a 1967 Corvette that he had recently sold; before selling the vette he pulled the 327/350hp power plant and 4 speed and had put them in the Chevelle. At the time he was planning on keeping the Chevelle, however, the Goldwing had changed his plans. I consider it was my “lucky day” to find the Chevelle!

In the eight years that I have owned the Chevelle I have done the body work and had a friend spray on the Cortez Silver paint. The bucket seat/console interior has been completely redone with a new black interior kit and I also installed a reproduction SS gauge package and an in dash AM/FM cassette. A Hurst shifter was added to the four speed that was “borrowed” from the Corvette! The Malibu SS originally was a powerglide car. Other changes have been new coil springs in the front and back and a set of BFG’s to make the ride like new.

Future plans include a complete polygraphite front end package and a flowmaster exhaust system.

My wife, kids and I sure enjoy cruising through the mountain pass in our summertime driver.
