Car: 1968 Chevelle Super Sport
I bought my 1968 SS 396 Chevelle on July 5, 1990 with no engine and no transmission. Immediately after purchasing the car I started a frame off restoration. It took myself and a few good friends four years to finish the project.
The base coat/clear coat paint is the original Verdoro Green colour. The engine is now a new GM built 454 LS-6 crate engine, which came complete from intake manifold to oil pan.
It has mechanical flat tappet camshaft, 10.2:1 compression ratio and a 780 CFM Holley carburetor. The ignition system is MSD which includes the 6T box, sev control, distributor, coil & wires. The transmission is a Borg-Warner T10 with a 2.88:1 first gear ratio, The clutch is a center force 11 inch, with a steel bell housing. The rear end is a 12 bolt posi with 4.56:1 gears.

Occasionally I race the car at Capital Raceway in Edmonton (elevation 2372 ft). My best quarter mile time ET was 12.31 seconds at 111.57 MPH with full exhaust, pump gas and 29x9x15 drag slicks. Not bad for a 3836lb car.
The car is also driven on the street on dry summer days as a cruiser. The car looking almost totally stock is fun to drive and appeals to young and old people alike. I tried to keep the car as original as possible by carefully hiding and covering up the non-original parts.

The interior is original except for the 3 Autometer gauges under the dash. This year March 15, 1997 the car was entered at the 18'th annual "World of Wheels" in Edmonton. The car won 1'st place in the "Custom Conservative Hardtop" class.
