We bought our El Camino in 1995. It was a daily driver. I drove it for three months then took it off the road. I started by removing all the paint. There I found some rust, I continued working on my car and collecting parts for reassembly.

In Dec of 1996 I saw an ad in Hemmings Motor News. "64 to 77 Chevelle & El Camino parts, rust free sheet metal etc" This was a Washington phone number. My wife said "you have to call" I called and yes they did have a rear clip for a 64 El Camino.

I bought the clip and in January 1997 and picked it up from Ikan Auto Wreckers in Tacoma. I cleaned it up and then took it to Mags Collision Ltd. Where Rick and I changed bodies, I also removed the paint from this body too.

Rick straightened out the body, setup the doors, fenders, hood, etc. Our El Camino then went to Continental Auto Body & Painting Ltd. There Ron & Dave prepped the car and Ron painted it Azure Aqua in Dupont Premier Base/Clear.

I bought most of my restoration parts & interior from Pennisula Restoration Parts. Ron Olman has been excellent to deal with. I have been completely satisfied with the parts and service.

I have also bought parts from many sources including: The El Camino Store, Muscle Factory, Also while in the states the last time I stopped by Jim Biscay's Classic Chevy in Rochester, Washington. Jim has a large selection of parts in stock. I have also purchased manuals from Marvin & Helen Welch of Classic Auto Literature in Nanoose Bay.

Other sources of information and parts were Darrin White and Rick Outingdyke many thanks to them. The building of this car has been a very enjoyable experience. The people I've met have been excellent.
