Car: 1967 Beaumont SD

I always had a fascination for muscle cars, never really knowing exactly what I would like if it came my way. However, that all changed in August of 2001 when I saw what had been eluding me all these years. After calling about the ’67 Beaumont Sport Deluxe, the owner asked me if I knew what a Beaumont was, and I knew that it was a “cousin” of the Chevelle. My only other Chevelle experience was a 1974 Chevelle which was a great car, probably the best car I ever had growing up in Saskatchewan.
We made arrangements to meet and I still remember the first time I saw the ’67 Sport Deluxe. We opened the garage door and he took off the car cover and there it was; the car I had always wanted, but just had not seen before. The grey-silver paint showed beautifully with a near perfect red interior. The car looked great!! My eyes could hardly take it all in. As I stepped forward and opened the door the interior was just in great shape, no cracks, rips or tears. My next objective was to get under that hood because I knew if the engine was in half the condition as the interior, I had found a real great car. As we walked around to the front of the car, he popped the hood and there it was, a 427 Corvette engine rated at 425HP. Guess what, the engine bay probably out shone the interior!! The car had just over 79, 000 original miles and was in just great over all condition. After a short test drive we sat down and agreed on a price. He made me promise two things before I could buy the car. One was never to race the car, and the other was if I ever sold the car he wanted to have first chance to buy it back. I had no problem with this as I really began to realize what this car meant to this man. After a quick oil change in Regina, I started heading home about an hour and a half south east of the city. The car ran great and is just a blast to drive.
I enjoy going to Show and Shines and love talking to all kinds of people about my Beaumont and other cars as well. I usually put around 1500 miles a season on the Beaumont, going as far as Saskatoon for the annual late August Cruise Weekend. It is a great Show and Shine with 1000 cars and a crowd downtown of over 50, 000 people daily enjoying and looking at lots of neat cars. I have attended the show for the last three years.
Here is my GM build sheet with options listed. Over the last few years I have added a D96 stripe kit and also a U16 option in dash tach from a 64 GTO. I have also found a 396/325 HP Canadian built engine which is out of a 67 time correct Canadian built Pontiac.
