Mark Bortolotto's '67 Beaumont SD

Ever since I was a kid I have always had a fascination with the ’60 and early 70’s muscle cars. When I decided to find a car for myself, my muscle car search was focused upon ’66-70 Chevelles, however, after considerable research about the low production number Canadian built Beaumonts (thanks to CCCB for lots of helpful information) the decision was made to find a Beaumont.

I purchased my ’67 Beaumont SD (1 of 251 with L34 option) in August of 2003. The car had a complete frame off restoration finished two years before I bought the Beaumont. The car also had all the GM documentation including the original Protect-o-plate. The only deviation from stock that occurred during the restoration was the change made to the exterior paint colour and the addition of a vinyl top. Otherwise the car was restored to original.

The Beaumont left the Oshawa assembly line in April of ’67 and arrived at Janzen Hambrock Motors in Port Colbourne ON in a Silverglaze Metallic exterior finish. It is now painted Butternut Yellow. The only change I made after buying the 350hp 396 4 speed SD was the addition of 15” TA radials mounted on American Torque Thrust II’s. The rear gears remain the stock posi 3:55’s.

The summer of 2004 was spent driving to many cruise nights and shows. The Beaumont took home two “best of show” trophies! One of the best things about the past two years has been all the great people you meet who share the same interest in maintaining and restoring these great Canadian muscle car classics of the past.
